I have some photos which have filenames and types in upper case, eg IMAGE.JPG I want to import them to an online photo site, but that site only sees lowercase file names and types.

Can I use the rename action to change the filetype from JPG to jpg?

I'm running Phatch 0.2.4 on Ubuntu 9.10

One thing in Linux is that sometimes there are too many tools to do the job ;)

Don't do it with patch, do it in good old fashinoed bash.
Open terminal an cd to where these images are.

Use this command to rename:

for I in $(ls -1 *.JPG); do mv $I $(echo $I|tr [:upper:] [:lower:]); done

Phatch provides a rename action, which will leave your images intact. That probably will do the job. You can also use nEJC suggestion or if you prefer not the command line, use pyrenamer:

sudo apt-get install pyrenamer
