Folks, discovered phatch yesterday and it's a really great piece of easy to use software, that has produced great results for me on a batch of three hundred photos. It's so nice to find a top quality piece of photographic software that works under Linux.

The one thing missing from it from my perspective is support for Nikon's raw format .nef files. I had to first batch convert to .png format and then scale, sharpen, watermark and save. If I could do this straight from .nef format it would be fantastic.

I am guessing this is something missing from the python-imaging library, bu don't know for sure. There is .nef support with ufraw and dcraw under Linux, so maybe this would be of help?

Many thanks for some great software. I'll make a monetary donation as with or without raw support it's still very useful.

Also it would be handy if you would provide us with some .nef files and especially a command line example with dcraw.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure how to subscribe to the blueprint or indeed what a blueprint is in this instance. Once I have subscribed what do I then need to do (if anything)?

In its simplest form, you could just use dcraw like this:

dcraw dsc_6332.nef

You have all sorts of options though, such as changing white balance, changing the default ppm output to tif etc. There are many options available.

Please let me know what I can/should do to help and I will. Also, where should I send the .nef files to?

As a first solution Phatch might use automatic settings for dcraw. If you know that command line please add it to the whiteboard.
